Dearborn Trips

Chinese Wall Trip>>      North Fork Fly Fishing>>      Flathead Trip>>     Scapegoat Trip>>     Dearborn Trip>>

Dearborn trips are shorter trips, which have no moving days as we stay in the same camp the entire time. These trips are early enough in the summer that rain showers are not unusual. The vegetation is green and lush and bugs (horseflies, mosquitoes, etc.) are at a minimum. It is an easy 9-mile ride into the camp, the route going right up the Dearborn River. To find our camp the last 1 1/2 miles turns off the Dearborn and goes up Whitetail Creek. Due to the shorter time frame of these trips as well as the short ride in, this is an excellent trip for families with young children or first timers who would like to see how it is all done on an easier trip first, before moving on to bigger challenges.

Layover days here offer activities for a full range of riding or walking abilities as well as trout pools for the fisher folk. Short outings for children are possible here. The Grassy Hills offers a short ride within reach for all guests with a glorious view.

Farther rides include an 8-mile ride up the main Whitetail trail to the Continental Divide at Whitetail Pass.

From here one can view Tabbacco Valley in the Lolo National Forest as well as Scapegoat Mountain and many others. The highlight of the trip is to ride up a hunting trail to Whinose Ridge looking into Carmichel Basin. Then finishing the climb to the Continental Divide at the head of Crow Creek. With Crow Peak high above us to the north. We turn south and go down Crow Creek to the mouth. We then turn east and ride back up to the divide again at the head of Blacktail Creek, later descend down Blacktail and back to the river. To conclude our loop we ride up the river to Whitetail Creek and back to camp. The loop is a long ride of approximately 18to 20 miles, but well worth it… we assure you!
