Our Favorite Memories from a Montana Summer

As we wrapped up our 2019 summer season of adventuring into the Bob Marshall Wilderness, we wanted to look back and reflect on the last several weeks. While we work hard, get really busy and are constantly trying to keep up with ourselves, we also recognize and appreciate how blessed we are to be able to do what we do for a living.

To keep this in mind, we felt like it was important to reflect on our summer. We sat down as a family (Tucker, Amy, Bryar and Turk) and took a few minutes to share our favorite memories from this past summer season with each other.

And in turn, we wanted to share those memories and moments with you, as our friends, guests and family.

“Our first trip into White River was a lot of fun and we met so many great guests on our trips. For this particular trip, it was just Bryar, mom, dad and I working. The trips that Bryar gets to come in on are my favorite because there’s nothing like being in the wilderness and working alongside your best friend.”

-Turk, our blond-haired boy

“My favorite summer memories were wrangling with Turk and taking the time to stop and watch the sunrise every morning. I also loved the moments when Turk, Dad and I saddled our stock together. My favorite moments all seem to involve the family.”

-Bryar, our strong quiet ox of a son

“What really stood out for me this year are the connections we made with amazing guests which will turn into lifelong friendships. That and the wildflowers were off the charts! We saw shooting stars, lady slippers, fields of bear grass and many other elusive flowers that stayed around well into August. I never grow tired of the beauty of our summer home in White River.”

-Amy

“We had great trips this summer. Almost every trip was full and our guests loved the horses and wanted to see lots of country. We made the Turtlehead Loop just about every trip and went to the Chinese Wall numerous times. We had a wet summer and everything stayed green throughout the season, which is one of the first times that happened. Of course, it’s always wonderful to work with my wife and boys, as well as watch our horses and mules get better and better.”

-Tucker

As always, we love what we do. Thank you to our guests – past, present and future – for allowing us to be part of your summer vacation experience and for trusting us to explore one of the most beautiful places in the country.

For a look at summer, we also have permission to share this video from one of our guests – Dagmar Titsch – with you. We hope you enjoy it!

From our family to yours, happy summer and thanks for making it such a wonderful one.

-The Mills Family
